Men's D1 - Village Cafe finally breaks through, thwarts Bombers' repeat bid
The lead changed hands repeatedly in the 2nd half, but Village Cafe took control with some clutch buckets in the last four minutes and iced the game from the foul line, downing defending-champ Bombers, 62-54. Nate Schwab led all scorers with 21 points and made the majority of the clinching free throws. Bert Reuger controlled the paint and finished with 15 points, and Ryan Stein added 12 for Village Cafe, who's two previous trips to the finals resulted in overtime defeats. The Bombers, on the other hand, lost for just the 2nd time in their last 22 games. Trevor Bryant paced the Bombers with 19 points, & Greg Jones netted 15.
Men's D2 - We R One leads wire-to-wire, ends Just The Tip's perfect season
We R One jumped on Just The Tip early, building as large as a 15-point lead and held off Just The Tip, 68-62. Paul Finn was the standout with 20 points, as he led the attack inside for the longer, athletic We R One squad. Drew Norris scored 15 points & Stephen Biggs added 13 in the victory. Marshall Tucker, Fletch Bulifant (17 points each) & Ryan Gibbs (15 points) led a comeback that saw Just The Tip get as close as five points, but no closer.
Men's D3 - New Edition scores last 18 points to rally and defeat Team RamRod
Team RamRod was seemingly in control, prime for an upset when they took a 37-28 lead with 13 minutes to play. That would be all she wrote, though, as New Edition cranked up the defense and ended the game in a fury, finishing with an 18-0 run and claiming the Men's D3 title, 47-37. Keishawn Whitfield fueled the comeback with 20 points for New Edition, who capped off a perfect 11-0 season. Karn Kapoor hit three 3's and finished with nine points to pace RamRod.
Women's - Falcons control MVPs, pull away in championship rematch victory
The Falcons broke open a 2-point game at the half and rolled to a 46-29 win over the MVPs, avenging a loss in the Summer League Championship game last season. Tonya Pegram scored 13 points and spearheaded the Falcons' dominance on the boards. Kiesha White added 12 points in the win. The MVPs got eight points each from Rashauna Hobbs & Cassandra Dabbs, but they managed just 11 points as a team in the 2nd half.
