Winter 2010 Final Four Recaps Updated 6/13/2010

Men's Championship

Bullets handle Cap City Ballers to earn championship

The Bullets jumped out to an early double-digit lead, held off multiple Cap City attempts to get within five, but finally pulled away and won the Men's title, 65-50.  Mike Shin was dominant on the interior, scoring 18 points, while Cap City clearly missed the presence of Ed Riley.  Alex Spotts also had 18 for the Bullets, while Kevin Smith added 16.  Brett James poured in a game-high 27 points for Cap City, who also got 10 from Justin Crews.  In the end, though, the Bullets were able to avenge their only loss of the season and claim the Men's Winter League Championship.

Titans use second half surge to comeback and claim championship

Offense in the first half came at a premium in a physical championship game, and the score was tied at 15 at intermission.  From there, the Knights jumped out to a 28-20 lead with 13 minutes to play and seemed to be in control.  However, the Titans dominated from that point forward, holding the Knights to just four points the rest of the way and putting together a 19-4 run to close out their title victory, 39-32.  Mike Brindley and Jerry Taylor had 10 apiece to lead the Titans.  Brindley did all of his damage early and was the only bright spot for the Titans in keeping them alive at the break.  James Robinson's game-high 13 points led the Knights in a game that mirrored the Titans' seven-point victory in the regular season.

Men's Playoffs Recaps - Final Four

Cap City fights off pesky DRT Group to reach final

Cap City used a patented 11-0 run to break open a 24-24 tie late in the first half, and they used that as a working margin to hold off DRT Group, 54-47.  Cap City was led by Brett James's 23 points and Ed Riley's 16.  Andrew Maples paced DRT Group with a game-high 24 points and led a comeback that saw the lead trimmed to as few as three points, but Cap City took care of the ball and made free throws to seal the win.

Bullets wear down New Breed

The first half was controlled by New Breed, and they went into the break with a five-point lead.  The second half, though, was all Bullets, as they moved the game to a pace of their liking and wore down New Breed, advancing with a 66-56 victory.  Mike Shin was big inside with 17 points to pace the Bullets.  Alex Spotts (15 points) and Kevin Smith (14) did a lot of damage in the open floor and helped to break open the game late in the second half.  Shawn Harris had a game-high 24 points to keep New Breed in it for the majority of the contest.  Marcus Thomas added 13 and Byron Baxter chipped in 10 in the loss.
